15th Anniversary Show Tonight!

Here we are. 15 years after starting this thing we know as 'The Hip-Hop Project', we're still here. Its a rarity in these times that anything lasts as long as we have. Its a true testament to the love and dedication to everyone who has been a part of our staff over the past 15 years. There's not a lot I can say about tonight's show because there's going to be a lot of surprises. Surprises for us, for you, surprises for everyone. I will say that tonight's show will be something that Chicago hasn't heard in quite a while.

Since JP Chill hosted his last show on WHPK a few years back, we have been the longest running Hip-Hop mix show in Chicago. I like to think that we carried that torch proudly. Every week I stepped behind the mic to start the show, I knew that The Hip-Hop Project was the best product available to our listeners. Nobody worked harder on their show than we did, nobody had better guests than we did, and nobody had more fun than we did. I'm not sure that we will see a 20th anniversary in 2015, so on tonight's show we're going to let it all hang out and do a lot of reflecting. It's my pleasure to say that the man who brought me into the show over a decade ago, Brother El, will be hosting along with me. I don't think we have ever hosted a show together so I'm looking forward to things coming full circle tonight. I would like to send out a special thank you to all the artists who have been a major part of the show since 1995. Those who know us, know our playlist and who appears on it frequently. To those artists we thank you because you have always inspired us and kept us interested. You'll hear from alot of those artists tonight. Some veterans, some younger cats trying to establish something new.

Most importantly I would like to thank our listeners. Alot of you have grown up with us over the years, and I regret to say that some of you have grown "too big" for us. Listeners to our show have come and gone over the years but there has been a core group of listeners that have kept us going every week. I always said if we reach just one person than our mission is accomplished, and I think we've done that one hundred fold. Tonight's show is for the hardcore, dedicated listeners that have been with us since day one (or at least most of the time). In a city known for its "hate", we approached our show every week by spreading love; a formula that I'm still not sure Chicago was ever ready for.
Even in 2010, there's alot of people that will be listening for the first time tonight, and to those people, we welcome you to Chicago's Best Kept Secret. Starting at 8 P.M. CST, listen to us live HERE.
Thanks,
Cosm Roks
Host/DJ of The Hip-Hop Project
